Bad Egg Steals 4-Foot-Tall Rooster Statue

The popular local fixture was recently stolen from the mailbox it was tied to on Nokesville Road.

Talk about ruffling feathers!

A Bristow neighborhood has rallied to replace a 4-foot-tall rooster statue that was stolen from the mailbox it was tied to on Nokesville Road sometime between 10 p.m. Saturday, July 27 and 7 a.m. Sunday, Suly 28. The rooster was a popular local fixture, and had different designs painted on it every season.

Leanne Dronet, the owner of the statue, hatched the idea to get the rooster back, or help raise funds to replace it, by setting up a Facebook page—with updates from the missing rooster. The rooster also has an IndieGoGo page where neighbors can make donations to help fund a new rooster, and a more secure way to keep it attached to the ground. If there is extra money left over, it will go to charity, according to the page.

The morning drive on Route 28 is fowl enough without the rooster gone, some commuters say.

One person wrote on the rooster's Facebook page: "I love and miss that Rooster! 28 in Bristow isn't the same with out it!"

Anyone who has information on the rooster's whereabouts can post on the Facebook page, or email Dronet at Leannedronet@gmail.com.
