Blotter: Man Charged After Removing Family Member's Towed Car

Some of the latest incidents in the Manassas City Police jurisdiction.

Manassas City Police investigated the following recent incidents.

Unlawful entry: DTR Towing, a 24-hour towing company on Colonel Court, reported at 9:40 p.m. Sunday that two people entered the warehouse vehicle storage area and removed a car that had been towed earlier that evening. 

A police investigation showed that an 18-year-old Manassas male entered the building to retrieve a towed car that belongs to a family member. The man was charged with unlawful entry, a class one misdemeanor. He will appear in court on July 15, and could face a jail sentence of up to 12 months and/or a fine of up to $2,500.


Assault: Police found a man lying in a roadway on the 9800 block of Town Lane around 11:27 p.m. Tuesday. Officers arrived with EMS and found a man from nearby Sandalwood Lane with abrasions on his arms and face,.  The man told officers that he was injured after falling, but his injuries indicated that he had been assaulted. He was taken to the hospital and treated for minor injuries. Police continue to investigate the incident.

Attempted Robbery: Around 10:42 p.m. Monday, police responded to the 8900 block of Patterson Place for a report of an attempted Robbery. The victim said that he was walking home from 7-Eleven, when he was approached by a man who showed a knife and demanded that he turn over his cell phone.  The victim did not give the suspect his phone and instead ran home. The suspect was described as a Hispanic male in his early twenties, about 5’8” tall, 150 pounds, with short black curly hair and a thin mustache. He was wearing a black t-shirt and cargo shorts.

Residential Burglary: A resident on the 9200 block of Prescott Avenue noticed on June 13 that unknown suspects had broken in through a front window during the overnight hours, consumed alcohol and narcotics, and damaged and stole items. The resident was in the process of moving into the home.
