City Gets Five New Fire and Rescue Employees

City's fire and rescue department gets five new members, who were sworn in at Monday's council meeting.

The Manassas City Fire and Rescue Department has taken yet another step to ensure public safety by beefing up its squad.

The newest members took an oath administered by Manassas City Mayor Harry J. (Hal) Parrish ll at Monday evening's council meeting, and were sworn in during a special ceremony. 

They are five out of 12 members who were able to complete the strenuous work and training that comes with the promotion, said Manassas City Fire Chief Brett R. Bowman.

They include:

  • Firefighter/EMT Brad Fairbanks, whose father was a firefighter and decided to follow in his footsteps.
  • Firefighter/EMT William Ledrew, a previous member of the Manassas Park Fire Department.
  • Firefighter/Medic Justin Reed, who began volunteering at 16 and has been in fire and rescue ever since.
  • Firefighter/Medic Jason Scott, who has worked with the City of Baltimore and Prince William Count fire departments.
  • Firefighter/Medic Bryan Stone, who's lived in Manassas with his family since 2006.
