Crime Blotter: Tip Leads to Arrests of Teenagers in Assault, Robbery Case

Police said a Crime Solvers tip has led to the arrests of two teenagers accused of assaulting a 34-year-old Manassas man before stealing his bike.

Teenagers Charged With Assault

Manassas City Police said a Crime Solvers tip has led to the arrests of an 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy accused of assaulting a 34-year-old Manassas man before taking off on the victim's bike. 

The incident took place near the basketball courts outside of Weems Elementary School on Tuesday, April 26.

Laron Rasheed Thomas, 18, of Signal Hill Road in Manassas, has been arrested and charged with robbery and malicious wounding. A 16-year-old boy also of Manassas  has also been charged with assault.

Police said Thomas pulled out a BB gun and shot the victim several times in the face and upper torso when the victim attempted to confront him in an effort to get his bike back.  The juvenile  also  allegedly approached the victim and punched him in the face.

15-Year-Old Arrested, Charged With Robbery

Police in Manassas City have arrested a 15-year-old boy, of Calypso Drive, and charged him with robbery after an incident that occurred in the 9800 block of Town Lane on Tuesday, April17.

Police said a 14-year-old boy was robbed of his iPod after being asked by the 15-year-old to see the device. The suspect then left with the iPod without victim's consent. The victim was not assaulted during the course of the incident, police said.
