Crime Blotter: Child Shot by BB Gun; Homeowner Spooks Would-be Burglar

Man Arrested After Police Pursuit

A Manassas-area man has been arrested after attempting to kick in the door of a Bristow home and fleeing police.

Police were called to the 13800 block of Tartan Hills Parkway in nearby Bristow shortly before 10 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 15, for the report of a a suspicious person. A homeowner told police that an unknown suspect, identified by police as 25-year-old Joshua Lemar Pendleton, of the 8000 block of Brigade Court in Manassas, attempted to kick in the door to the residence before  fleeing the area in a vehicle.

Officers attempted to stop a vehicle matching the description provided to them in the area of Tartan Hills Parkway and Sudley Manor Drive, but Pendleton did not comply.

Police said Pendleteon ran a red light at the intersection of Nokesville Road and Piper Lane and struck a vehicle in the intersection before attempting to flee on foot.

Officers were able to locate Pendleton in the parking lot of a shopping center nearby where he was arrested without incident. No injuries were reported from the crash, police said.

Police have charged Pendleton with attempted burglary, felony eluding, felony hit and run, driving under the influence of drugs and driving on a revoked license. His court date is unavailable. He is being held without bond.


Child Shot by BB Gun

A Manassas-area man is charged with child abuse and neglect after a 2-year-old boy in his care accidentally shot himself in the foot with a BB gun.

Prince William County Police were called to a home in the 7500 block of Quail Run Lane in the Manassas-area shortly before  8 p.m. on August 10 to investigate. They found that the accused, identified as 19-year-old  Antawan Antonio Campbell, had lefter several BB guns out on his bed in his room where the child could access them.

The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said. Campbell, of the 7500 block of Quail Run Lane in Manassas, is charged with child abuse and neglect. He was released, pending an unavailable court date. 

Homeowner Spooks Would-be Burglar

Police in Prince William County responded to the 8200 block of Vernon Street in Manassas (20109) for a burglary in progress on August 13 shortly before 3 p.m.

The homeowner told police he was asleep in a bedroom he heard a noise coming from a nearby window. That's when the homeowner discovered an unknown man standing outside the window, trying to open it. Police said the suspect fled after once he realized he'd been noticed.

No entry was made and no items were reported missing. Police are looking for an Hispanic male, between 20 and 28 years of old. No further description was made available.
