Police Investigate Shooting Death of Pet Dog

According to Sergeant Eddie Rivera with the Manassas City Police Department,  officers responded to the 8300 block of Magnolia Court on the afternoon of Feb 1 where they were informed by the dog's owner that the animal had been shot.

Animal Control Officers rushed the dog to a nearby animal hospital where it was euthanized early Wednesday morning due to the extent of his injuries, police said.

Man Waves Gun at Woman, Threatens to Shoot Her

On January 31 Manassas City Police officers were called to the 9700 block of Pickett Lane after a woman walking in the area reported being approached by three males.  One of them allegedly displayed a gun and threatened to shoot her, police said.

The only description of the suspects provided by the victim was that all three males were dressed in black clothing.

Pedestrian Attacked, Robbed on Walk Home

Manassas City Police Officers are investigating a violent robbery that occurred on January 27 shortly before 5 p.m. in the 9900 block of Wellington Road.

The victim told police he was walking home when he was confronted by three young black males.

He said the males demanded money from him, and assaulted him when he denied the request.  The victim's shoulder was injured in the assault, police said.

The three offenders were all described as all being between 14 and 16 years old with a thin build, lighter complexion and medium height.

One of the offenders was wearing a white hooded sweatshirt and jeans at the time of the incident, police said. Officers were able to collect evidence left at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.

Attempted Robbery Suspect Nabbed at Local Hospital Visiting Family Member

A man who attempted to rob an area bank Wednesday, Feb. 1, was arrested the same day after being spotted by a security detail at a local hospital.

Police said Robert Leroy Reid, of 7611 Yellow Lilly Drive, was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly attempted to rob the Suntrust Bank located at 8751 Sudley Road around 2:45 p.m.

Bank employees provided a description of the suspect. A Manassas City Police Officer working a security detail at Prince William Hospital that day observed a male that matched the description visiting a family member at the hospital soon after the attempted robbery. 

Further investigation revealed that the male was responsible for the attempted bank robbery.  Reid is being held at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center, with no bond. His court date was set for March 15, 2012.
