Fatal Crash Injures Two Children; Manassas Driver Charged

Four people, including 4-year-old, ejected from vehicle in early-morning wreck, according to Prince William County Police.

A weekend car wreck killed one and injured several as four people were ejected from the Ford Explorer as it rolled down an embankment, according to Prince William County Police.

Doris Aucapina-Esinoza, 43, of Rockwood, N.Y., was killed in the crash after she was ejected from the vehicle.

The driver, Alejandra Espinoza-Velasquez, 19, of Manassas, was charged with two counts of felony child neglect, two counts of felony injury to the health of a child, one count of reckless driving and one count of failure to secure a child in a safety seat.

Officers responded to the area of Dumfries Road and Toddsbury Lane after 4 a.m. on Sunday, according to PWCPD spokesman Jonathan Perok.

The investigation suggests a 2004 Ford Explorer driven by Espinoza-Velasquez was traveling south on Dumfries Road when she lost control of the car, according to police. The Explorer reportedly left the road, rolling multiple times before landing on its roof down an embankment. 

There were nine people in the car and four of them were ejected, including a 4-year-old boy, according to police. Five of the occupants were not wearing seat belts, Perok said. 

The 4-year-old was not secured in a seat sustained significant injuries. Another child, a 6-year-old, was secured in a seat and was also injured.
