Garbage Truck Catches Fire in Manassas Area

No injuries were reported, Prince William County firefighters said.

Firefighters are continuing their investigation into what caused a garbage truck to catch fire on Thursday.

It happened at 8:30 a.m. on the 11110 block of Industrial Drive in the Manassas area of Prince William County, according to information released by the Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue.

When crews arrived, they found the truck on fire. It was later discovered the fire caused the truck's hydraulic lines to fail and leak fluid.

A county Hazmat team responded and worked to contain the fluid while fire crews worked to contain the fire and county police managed the traffic flow around the area. The whole operation was lengthy because of the contents of the truck, but no injuries were reported, firefighters said.

The fire caused about $40,000 in damages.
