Growing Minds Daycare Owner Charged With Cruelty to Children

A Manassas woman was charged with four counts of cruelty and injuries to children.

A Manassas day care owner has been charged with child cruelty and injuries to children, Prince William County Police said Thursday.

Tara Angelyn Loop, 38, of 8500 block of Somersworth Drive in the Yorkshire area, was arrested and held on a $4,000 secured bond following a police investigation.

Detectives with the Prince William County Police Department's Physical Abuse Unit and Child Protective Services visited the unlicensed daycare at Loop's home on Oct. 2. They found six children in the home, all under the age of two. Three of the children were unattended in a separate room, police said.

Loop's 16-year-old teenage daughter was also at the residence and officers said they found she worked long hours to care for the children.

The charges against Loop were related to the three unattended children and because her daughter was overworked, police said.
