High Wind Warning Prompts Outside Burn Ban
For a second weekend in a row, windy conditions have resulted in an outdoor burning ban for the region.
Because of the high wind warning issued for Feb. 25 the Fire Marshal’s office has banned all outside fires, including campfires, from Friday through Saturday.
The National Weather Service has issued a high wind warning from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday. A high wind advisory is in effect from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Friday, as well.
Last week, the combination of outdoor fires and high winds caused six large brush fires throughout the county.

The burning of debris is prohibited for residential areas; instead of burning please put debris in a chipper or shredder on site and transport it to the county landfill.
The Fire Marshal’s Office urges residents to secure all outdoor furniture, trash receptacles, cooking grills, and other freestanding items. If not properly secured, during a wind event, they may cause injury and damage.
