Man Accused of Biting Jail Officer's Thumb

It happened in the Prince William County Adult Detention Center in Manassas.

A man in custody at the Manassas jail is facing additional charges after police say he bit a corrections officer's thumb, Prince William County Police reports show. 

Jamal Arris Thompson, 26, of Oakland, Cali. is charged with malicious wounding, reports show. 

It happened Thursday at 2:50 p.m. at the Prince William County Adult Detention Center in Manassas. 

One of the corrections officers reported that an inmate was being combative when officers tried to restrain him.  At some point during the encounter, the suspect managed to bite an officer's thumb and cause a "deep laceration, " according to police. 

He was eventually brought under control and detained. The officer had his thumb treated. 
Thompson remains in custody at the detention center. No bond has been set.
