Police: Teen Charged With Assaulting an Officer

Arrest at 90 Degrees restaurant after drugs found in car, according to police.

Two officers were pulled to the ground Saturday in a struggle with a suspect at 90 Degrees restaurant in Manassas, according to Prince William County Police.

Carlos Alfredo Escobar, 18, of 3613 Keota St., Alexandria, is charged with assault and battery on law enforcement officer, resisting arrest, possession with intent to distribute marijuana and possession with intent to distribute a schedule I or II narcotic (cocaine), Prince William County Police reports show.

It happened at 10:11 p.m. when officers were patrolling the restaurant parking lot at 8509 Rixlew Lane.

The two officers noticed the smell of marijuana while speaking to the suspect who was sitting in a car in the parking lot, a Prince William Police report shows.

Marijuana and cocaine could be seen in his car and he was subsequently arrested, police said.

While officers were taking him into custody, Escobar reportedly began to resist arrest and ended up knocking himself and two officers to the ground.

The suspect wasn't injured but one of the officers suffered lacerations on his hand, according to police reports.

Escobar's bond and court date information isn't available.
