A man accused of approaching multiple young Manassas girls in a red pickup truck has been identified.

Manassas City police identified Joseph D. Briganti, 37, of 11243 Ramrod Road in Woodbridge, as the man involved in the "red truck" incidents. Officials obtained a warrant for stalking and arrested Briganti at his residence on the evening of Wednesday, June 18.

The first incident involved a 16-year-old female who was running on Godwin Drive at 6:15 p.m. on June 11 when she was approached from behind by the driver of a red pickup truck, who asked if she needed a ride. The man followed her in his vehicle onto Shannon Lane when the victim said the driver pulled up and ordered her into his truck. The victim escaped and returned home unharmed.

The second incident involved one 12-year-old female and one 13-year-old female who were walking at the intersection of Clover Hill Road and Godwin Drive at 8:40 p.m. June 11 when the driver of a red pickup truck ordered the girls to get in his truck. The victims ran to a nearby residence and escaped unharmed.

Briganti is being held at the Prince William Adult Detention Center with no bond and a pending court date.
