Police: Man Falsely Claimed He Was Robbed

A West Virginia man faces charges after he falsely claimed that he was robbed, Prince William County Police said.
Jose Alonso Ramirez, 21, of Johnny Cake Lane in Harpers Ferry, W.Va., is charged with filing a false report.
Police responded at 11:45 p.m. Jan. 24 to the report of a robbery on the 8700 block of Sudley Road in Manassas. Ramirez told police that he was in the area when an unknown man approached him with a knife. He reported that he had tried to disarm the man and was cut, causing an injury to his arm.

"Officers were able to determine that no robbery took place and that the accused struck a tree with his fist following an argument with a friend," Officer Jonathan Perok, a spokesman for the police department, said in a press release.
Ramirez was released on a $1,000 bond pending an April 5 court date.
