Police are investigating two related incidents in which a man in a red pickup truck approached young girls around the Godwin Drive area.

Manassas City Police are investigating two incidents out of the Godwin Drive area in which a man in a red pickup truck approached young girls and ordered them into his truck.

A 16-year-old female told officers she was running on Godwin Drive at 6:50 p.m. June 11 when a man in a red pickup truck slowed down behind her and asked if she needed a ride, according to a police report.

The victim changed direction but said the man followed her in his vehicle down Hastings Drive onto Shannon Lane. The victim said she stopped in an area filled with witnesses when the driver pulled up and told her to get in his truck. The victim escaped and returned home unharmed.

On Sunday, June 15, Manassas police responded to a similar incident in which two girls, 12 and 13, were walking in the area of Clover Hill Road and Godwin Drive at 8:15 p.m. and were approached by the driver of a red pickup truck. The driver stopped near them at the intersection and yelled at the victims to get in his truck, according to a police report.

The suspect is a white male, approximately 5’11” with a “beer belly” and gray/brown hair. He was wearing a white tank top, dark-colored shorts and a white ball cap during the first incident and a green or black ball cap during the second. The truck was described as a single-cab red pickup, possibly a red Ford pickup, with lifts and oversized black bumpers.

Anyone with information about these events is encouraged to call the Manassas City Police Department Investigative Services Division at (703) 257-8092 or Crime Solvers at  (703) 330-0330.
