Manassas Hit and Run Suspect Accused of Kicking Two Police Officers

Prince William County Police said the man was under the influence of alcohol when he hit a car near Lomond Drive on Sunday afternoon.

A Manassas man was arrested Sunday after police said he crashed into a vehicle, left the scene and then kicked two of the police officers who caught him.

Jose Elias Portillo, 27, of Community Drive is charged with two counts of assault and battery on law enforcement officer, driving under the influence, felony hit and run, resisting arrest and driving without a license.

At 4:30 p.m. police responded to the 8100 block of Community Drive in Manassas to investigate a hit and run that allegedly happened near Lomond Drive and Ashland Avenue, Prince William County police reports show.

Witnesses told police the suspect struck an occupied vehicle and kept going. Officers were able to identify the suspect and determined that he was under the influence of alcohol, according to police.

Witnesses directed police to the accused who kicked two officers and tried to kick out the window of the police cruiser that transported him to a local jail, according to police.

No serious injuries were reported as a result of the crash or the arrest. The suspect is expected to appear in court on March 31.
