A corrections officer of the Prince William County Adult Detention Center died Wednesday in a vehicle crash, Virginia State Police told Insidenova.com on Thursday.

Brian Lynn Seay, 52, died after his 2002 Saturn sedan veered off Route 29 in Culpepper and hit a tractor trailer stopped on the shoulder of the road for a flat tire repair.

Police said he died at the scene. No other injuries were reported, but the driver of the tractor trailer was cited for not placing emergency cones around his truck.

The trailer did have its hazard lights activated at the time of the crash, police added.

Seay was a seven-year veteran of the detention center.

Very sad. Jamie, spelling DOES count - "Culpeper" is the correct spelling.
