Manassas Man Charged with Hit-and-Run

The accused faces additional charges from Prince William County Police.

Prince William County Police have charged a Manassas man with malicious wounding, hit and run resulting in injury, DUI (third offense within 10 years), driving on a revoked license and refusal to submit to a breath test.

Police public information officer Jonathan Perok said that police responded to the 7800 block of Gregory Court on Aug. 4 as 12:32 a.m. for an assault.

"The victim, a 35-year-old man of Manassas, reported to police that he was involved in a verbal altercation with the accused, a known acquaintance, which escalated," said Perok in a release. "During the altercation the accused got into his vehicle and purposely struck the victim. Following the encounter, the accused fled the area."

Perok said officers later located Juan Santos Ayala at his residence where he was subsequently arrested without incident. The victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries, police said.

Ayala's court date is set for Sept. 12, 2012. He is being held without bond, police said.
