Manassas Man Charged with Killing Baby Now Indicted in Decade-Old Murder Case

Joaquin Shadow Rams indicted in 2003 killing.

Joaquin Shadow Rams, the Manassas City man charged with killing his 15-month-old son in 2012, has now been indicted on murder charges in the death of his former girlfriend in 2003, according to news reports.

A Prince William County grand jury indicted Rams, 41, on Monday in the death of Shawn K. Mason, WTOP reports. She was found dead in her home of a single gunshot wound.

Rams was indicted this summer on a capital murder charge in the death of Prince McLeod Rams, his son, in October 2012.

The baby died during a court-ordered visitation with his father. The Office of the Medical Examiner ruled that the death was caused by drowning, though Joaquin Rams contends that Prince had a seizure.

Rams had taken out several life insurance policies on his son, totaling well over $500,000. Rams filed one policy that falsely claimed that Prince's mother, Hera McLeod, died in an accident. Rams has said that the policies were an investment.
