Manassas Teen to be Sentenced for Murder

Keby Moya, 19, of Manassas, will be sentenced for second-degree murder on Friday afternoon.

A Manassas man could face up to 40 years in prison when he is sentenced Friday for the 2011 murder of his sister's boyfriend.

Keby Moya, 19, of Manassas, pleaded guilty in June to the murder of Jose Abel Teo Aguilar, 28, of Manassas. He will be sentenced on Friday afternoon in Prince William County Circuit Court.

Moya told police on Oct. 14, the night of the murder, that Aguilar was abusing Moya's sister, according to court documents. His sister also testified to that effect at a preliminary hearing early this year. Moya was living with his sister, Aguilar, and their three children on Braxted Lane at the time. Moya told police that he was angry over the abuse and had decided to kill Aguilar.

Court documents show that Moya killed Aguilar by grabbing a kitchen knife and stabbing him shortly after an argument.

Moya was initially charged with first-degree murder, but the charges were reduced to second-degree.
