Manassas Police to Send Honor Guard, Motor Patrol to PWC Officer’s Funeral

Prince William County Officer Chris Yung will be buried Friday.

Manassas Police will show their respect for the loss of a neighboring agency’s deceased officer Friday by sending officers to his funeral and the subsequent motor procession.

The Manassas Police Honor Guard will attend the funeral of Prince William County Police Officer Chris Yung, along with honor guards from other law enforcement agencies, said Sgt. Lowell Nevill, Manassas Police spokesman.

Yung was responding to an accident Dec. 31 when his patrol motorcycle was struck by a Dodge Caravan making a left turn at Piper Lane and Route 28 (Nokesville Road). He is only the third Prince William County officer to die in the line of duty.

Motorcycle units with the Manassas Police Motor Patrol will ride in the procession that is expected to begin at noon Friday.

Manassas Police will also provide mutual aid to Prince William County police by responding to emergency and non-emergency calls at the western end of the county between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m. Friday.

Virginia State Police officers will respond to calls on the eastern end of the county during that time frame, said Prince William Police spokesman Jonathan Perok.

May his soul rest in peace and may his family's sorrows be eased.

What a wonderful "angel" the law enforcement community has looking over them. The procession was the 1st I had ever experienced, it left me with an image that won't be forgotten!
