She was crossing the tracks when a southbound train enroute from Washington, D.C. to Manassas rounded a slight curve.

"The engineer saw a pedestrian walking across the tracks from left to right. The engineer immediately applied the emergency brake and sounded the horn. The train slowed but hit the pedestrian in the middle of the southbound track," according to the Fairfax County Police Department's preliminary investigation.

A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, Jan.18, 2014 at 1 p.m. at Loudoun Baptist Temple on Edward Ferry Road in Leesburg, according to her obituary.
The interment will be private. The family is asking those who wish to send flowers or donate a gift in Anderson's name to do so through the Life Tributes Sympathy Store.

Born Aug. 5, 1991 in New Hampshire, Anderson worked at the Burke-area Target, located at 10301 New Guinea Rd., and graduated from Devry University in 2012 with a BA in graphic design.

She is survived by her mother Alta Anderson, stepfather Peri Sufitchi, brother Dereck Anderson, and her father John Anderson.
