New Cops Hit The Streets In Prince William County and Dumfries

Officers graduate from police basic recruit school and will patrol throughout Prince William County.

Twenty-one new police officers graduated Dec. 20 from the Prince William County Criminal Justice Academy Basic Law Enforcement 33rd Session.

The graduation for the newly sworn officers — 20 with the Prince William County Police Department and one with the Town of Dumfries Police Department — was held at the Hylton Performing Arts Center in Manassas.

The men and women completed a 24-week course of training in all aspects of police work, including classes in firearms, use-of-force decision making, driver training, legal training, patrol techniques, criminal investigation and crash investigation.

The Prince William Police Department continues to seek qualified applicants for police officer positions. All interested applicants are encouraged to contact the Prince William County Police Personnel Bureau at 703-792-6580, or visit the Department’s website at www.pwcgov.org/police.

The recent graduates assigned to eastern Prince William County are: 

  • Long K. Lam, an Army veteran and graduate of Atlantic City High School in New Jersey.
  • Peter F. Inskeep, a graduate of Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond.
  • Edward J. Romero, a graduate of George Mason University in Fairfax.
  • Kayla J. T. Sherwood, a graduate of the University of Maryland in College Park.
  • Susan J. White, a graduate of County College of Morris in New Jersey.
  • Joseph D. Wilhelm, a graduate of the University of Phoenix in Pittsburgh.

Those assigned to western Prince William County are:

  • Gregory A. Barham, an Army veteran and graduate of Old Dominion University in Norfolk.
  • Helen C. Dennehy, a graduate of Franciscan University of Steubenville in Ohio.
  • Timothy J. Horn, a graduate of James Madison University in Harrisonburg.
  • Christian P. Iten, an Army veteran and graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
  • Raymond P. Lowman III, a Navy veteran and graduate of the Air University in Alabama.
  • Scott C. Martin, a graduate of Bishop Ireton High School in Alexandria.
  • John T. Obuabang, a graduate of Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University (Virginia Tech) in Blacksburg.
  • Whitney D. Phelps, a graduate of the University of Richmond in Richmond.
  • Vanessa N. Russell, a a graduate of the University of Central Florida in Orlando.
  • Colin B. Warner, a Marine Corps veteran and graduate of Texas State University in San Marcos.

Those assigned to central Prince William County are:

  • Kaitlin E. Miller, a graduate of George Mason University.

Assigned to the Town of Dumfries is:

  • Travis D. Sims, a Marine Corps veteran who is pursuing a bachelor’s degree from Strayer University.
