No Injuries After Aircraft Skids Off Runway

The three people on board the aircraft, including the pilot, were not injured. The aircraft was deemed a total loss.

Fire and rescue units from Manassas, Manassas Park, and Prince William County responded to an aircraft crash Friday at the Manassas Regional Airport, according to Manassas City Chief Fire Marshal Francis J. Teevan.

No injuries were reported. But A Piper Meridian single engine aircraft skidded off the runway coming to a halt in a nearby grassy area due to an undetermined problem with the aircraft.

The three people onboard the aircraft, including the pilot, were not injured. The aircraft sustained significant damage to the landing gear, wings, and fuselage and is estimated to be a total loss.

Fire and rescue units remained on the scene for an extended period of time due to a damaged and leaking fuel cell, according to Teevan.

No information is available on where the aircraft was coming from or the identity of the passenger and pilot. Weather conditions were determined to be favorable and the Virginia State Police and FAA are investigating the incident.
