Officer Back at Work After Hit By Texting Driver

Officer Heather Munsterman was seriously injured in July incident.

Manassas Officer Heather Munsterman is back at work this week, nine months after she was performing a traffic stop and struck by a passing driver who was texting at the time.

"I'm with your coworkers where I'm supposed to be, what I've been doing for 8 or 9 years. It makes me feel whole again," Munsterman told WUSA9.

City officials said at the time that Munsterman had suffered a concussion, a dislocated shoulder and multiple fractures.

The driver, Alexander Michael Bacon, 25, was sentenced in November to one year in jail

Munsterman is currently on desk duty, but she's anxious to get back out in the field.

"I enjoy keeping our community safe. I love being out there," Munsterman said.
