Officials Investigate Hazmat Incident at Prince William Hospital

The emergency room at Prince William Hospital has reopened after a HAZMAT investigation determined suspicious substance did not present a hazard.

Update 12:40 p.m.: The emergency room at Prince William Hospital is reopened after a hazmat investigation wrapped up. The suspicious substance  was determined not to be hazardous. Hazmat crews identified substance as magnesium carbonate. All units will be clearing area and all sites are now open, including hospital. There is no longer a threat and all is safe. 

Update 12:15 p.m.: Units are securing the area around delivery truck at K-Mart parking lot on Sudley Road where possible exposure to unknown substance occurred. Units are still investigating at Prince William Hospital where hazmat crews are currently collecting samples.

Two people are being treated at Prince William Hospital after coming in contact with an unknown substance, during what officials are calling a possible hazmat incident. 

According to officials with the Prince William County Fire and Rescue Department, the hospital's emergency room is currently closed to incoming people and transporting emergency units as hazmat and other fire and rescue units investigate the situation at the hospital.
