Officials Investigating After Condominium Fire

Three units damaged by the fire, displacing four residents.

Fire officials continue to investigate the cause of a fire at a Manassas condominium neighborhood that caused significant damage to three units, displacing four residents.

According to Winstead Place resident Helena Okolicsanyi, four fire trucks and two ambulances arrived at the Winstead Place apartments off of Sudley Road Saturday, July 2, around 3:30 p.m. to battle the blaze, which caused major damage to a building located at  8186 Winstead Place.

Fire and health officials were still on the scene 30 minutes later, Okolicsanyi said.

Battalion Chief and Deputy Fire Marshal for Prince William County Fire and Rescue Joseph Robertson said today that the fire is still under investigation and remains undetermined at the time.

A preliminary investigation has revealed the fire appears to have started near the ground level on the exterior of building and extended up the side and into the three-story condominium, officials said.

Three of six condominium units in the building were effected.    Damage is estimated at $350,000.00 with value estimated at $750,000.00.
  
Four adults were displaced from the three damaged units and one person who did not reside in the building was also treated at the scene after inhaling smoke at the scene. The Red Cross is assisting the displaced residents.
 
Robertson said three fire marshals are currently conducting investigation to determine cause of this fire.
