Pizza Delivery Man Sold Drugs, Robbed of Stash by Would-be Buyer, Police Said

The delivery man's manager and an off-duty police officer retained his attacker, only to find the driver was selling marijuana, according to police.

A pizza delivery driver was apparently into selling more than pizzas, Manassas Police said. 

Tyler MacKenzie Vutiprichar, 20, of  Pope Street in Manassas was charged with misdemeanor possession with intent to distribute marijuana after he was rescued from a man who relieved him of his stash while he was working, Manassas City Police reports show. 

It happened Friday at 6:23 p.m. near Centreville Road and Liberia Avenue when police said a man tried to rob a pizza delivery driver. The driver and his manager gained the upper hand after chasing the suspect and holding him down on the ground. 

An off-duty police officer saw the incident and got involved by holding the suspect down until uniformed officers arrived. 

An investigation revealed the suspect had arranged to buy marijuana from the pizza delivery driver, but then took it by force.

David Donnell Hammond, 20, of  Sumner Lake Boulevard in Manassas is charged with robbery, possession of marijuana and disorderly conduct. He is being held without bond at the adult detentioncenter pending an Oct.15 court appearance.

Vutiprichar was also held at the adult detention center on a $2000 secured bond pending an court appearance on the same day as Hammond's.
