Police: Arrest in Game Stop Armed Robbery

Prince William County Police arrest Richard Kelly Hiner on March 2.

Prince William County Police investigators have arrested a man in connection to the armed robbery Feb. 24 of the Gainesville Game Stop store, according to Prince William County Police spokesman Jonathan Perok.

Richard Kelly Hiner, 35, was charged with robbery. His court date is set for April 10 and he is being held without bond.

According to Perok, detectives received a tip that led them to Hiner. The suspect turned himself in to police on Saturday.

The Game Stop at 7336 Atlas Walk Way was robbed near 6 p.m. on Feb. 24. Just prior to closing, a man walked into a rear storage area holding a knife. He reportedly stole two gaming consoles, valued at $600, and fled the store.

Funny that the guy arrested doesn't even match the description... he's 5'10" and 35 years old. That's a big difference from who police were looking for a 6'1" male between the age of 25-30. I guess its just easier to arrest the first person a "tip" is provided on rather than doing real investigative work.
