Police Arrest Suspect in New Year's Day Shooting

The suspect is from North Carolina and is charged in connection with a shooting in the Manassas area, Prince William County police said.

A North Carolina man wanted in connection with a New Year's Day shooting turned himself in to police this week, Prince William County Police said on Tuesday. 

David Jamar Moore, 25, of El Dorado Road in Fayetteville, NC was arrested on Monday and is charged with aggravated malicious wounding and use of a firearm in commission of a felony, according to police reports.

The shooting happened just after 2 a.m. on New Year's Day on the 10100 block of Shiloh Court in the Manassas area of Prince William County. 

Witnesses told police an argument between the victim and the suspect broke out inside a home in the area and escalated as it moved outdoors.

At some point, the suspect pulled out a gun and shot the victim in the leg, police said. 

When police made it to the scene, they found the 31-year-old suspect on the sidewalk with a gunshot wound. 

He was transported to a local hospital for treatment for non-life threatening injuries.
