Police Cruiser Crashes on Emergency Call; No Serious Injuries Reported

A family is displaced after a police cruiser struck their home Friday night.

No one was seriously injured when a Manassas City Police officer responding to an emergency lost control of his cruiser and struck two other vehicles and a house on Grant Avenue, police said.

The incident occurred Friday, March 23, shortly before 9 p.m. when the officer was responding to an emergency call for assistance in the area of Buckner Road and Grant Avenue. 

All parties involved were transported to Prince William Hospital and released a short time later, according to MCPD Sgt. Eddie Rivera.

The Manassas City Fire Marshall’s Office determined the house that was struck unsafe for occupancy until repairs could be made.  Red Cross was assisting the residents of the home.

The crash  is under investigation.  More information about the investigation is expected  early next week, Rivera said.
