Police: Gainesville Woman Dies Following Interstate Wreck

Crash with tractor-trailer Thursday afternoon in Prince George County. Truck driver charged with reckless driving.

A woman has died from her injuries in a Thursday wreck on Interstate 95 in Prince George County, according to the Virginia State Police.

Rachel E. Gradia, 24, of Gainesville, died from her injuries Saturday at VCU Medical Center in Richmond.

The crash occurred at 4:40 p.m. Thursday near mile marker 42 on I-95, according to VSP spokesperson Corinne Geller. 

"A tractor-trailer was southbound on I-95 in the right lane when it ran off the right side of the interstate and struck a 2007 Hyundai Elantra that was parked on the right shoulder," according to Geller.

Gradia was reportedly seated in the passenger seat and was thrown from the car when it was struck. The tractor-trailer then jackknifed in the tree line on the side of the road.

The driver of the tractor-trailer, Henry W. Vann Jr., 65, of Ahoskie, N.C., was charged with reckless driving. He was not injured in the wreck, according to Geller.
