Update: Police ID Victims from Two Weekend Crashes

Police in Prince William County have identified a motorcyclist and pedestrian who were killed in two separate crashes over the weekend.

Prince William County Police public information officer Jonathan Perok said 19-year-old Damien Charles Banks, of Gainesville, was struck and killed as he tried to cross Route 29 at Old Caroline Road early Sunday morning.

Banks died as a result of injuries sustained after he crossed in front of a 2008 Acura TL, traveling northbound on Rte. 29, Perok said. The driver, identified as a 36-year-old man from Culpepper, remained at the crash site and was not injured, according to police.

Banks was transported to an area hospital where he later died, police said.

Investigators have also released the identity of motorcyclist who died after striking a tree in the 14200 block of Bristow Road in Brentsville.

Randy Allen Lane, 46, died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash, which was reported to have occurred sometime during the overnight hours Saturday, Perok said.

The investigation revealed that Lane was operating a 2007 Harley Davidson Electra Glide and was traveling westbound on Bristow Road when he lost control, ran off the roadway and struck a tree.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, a passing motorist noticed Lane sometime after sunrise Sunday, but it is not clear exactly when the crash occurred. Speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in this crash, police said. The investigation continues.
