Police: Man Dead After 'Road Rage' Incident

A 47-year-old pedestrian died after being sent to the hospital following what Prince William County Police call a "road rage" incident. 

Prince William County Police said Saturday they responded at 4:32 p.m. on Friday to Prince William Parkway and Yates Ford Road in Manassas (20111) for a crash involving a pedestrian.

"The investigation revealed that the driver of a 2012 Ford F-350 and the driver of a 2000 Dodge Dakota were both traveling westbound on Yates Ford Rd in Fairfax County when the driver of the Dodge pickup began to tailgate the other driver," said Prince William County Police spokesperson Jonathan Perok in a news release. 

Police said "as both drivers entered Prince William County, both stopped at the traffic light at the Prince William Parkway and Yates Ford Road, pulling next to one another."

Perok said in a release "the driver of the Dodge pickup exited his vehicle and approached the other vehicle. The driver began to climb through a half opened passenger window in an attempt to engage in a physical fight with that driver." 

According to police reports, "the driver of the Ford pickup began to move his vehicle forward, at which point, the other driver fell and was run over by the truck."

"That driver [pedestrian] was ground transported to an area hospital where he died. This crash stemmed from a road rage incident and is considered a pedestrian involved crash since no contact was made between the vehicles," said a news release. "At this point, no charges have been filed. Drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in this crash. The investigation continues."

Police have identified the driver of the 2012 Ford F-350 as 38 year-old man of Manassas and the pedestrian as Brian David Samf, of no fixed address.
