Police: Manassas Park Man Struck With a 2-by-4 Board

Police said the argument began over money the victim owed the suspect.

A Manassas man allegedly picked up a 2-by-4 piece of wood and struck a man who didn’t have money to pay him for work he’d performed, Manassas Park Police said.

Robert Lee Sowers, 48, of Lake Drive in Manassas is charged with malicious wounding following a fight on Aug. 2 in the 100 block of Walden Street in Manassas Park, according to police reports.

Investigators said the suspect came to collect money for some worked he’d done for the victim and when that person didn’t have the money, a fight erupted.

Police said the suspect picked up a 2-by-4 piece of wood and struck the victim several times.

The victim suffered multiple abrasions, lacerations and swelling as a result of the beating, police said.

Sowers appeared before a magistrate in connection with his charges. He remains in custody. Bond hasn’t been set.
