Police: Officers Assaulted During Morning Traffic Stop

Driver became combatant, according to Manassas City Police.

Officers were assaulted during a morning traffic stop, according to Manassas City Police.

Philip Austin Tracey, 24, of 9708 Pickett Ln was charged with obstruction by threat, obstruction by force and assault on a law enforcement officer. 

At 6:50 a.m. Friday, officers were performing a routine traffic stop in the 9100 block of Taney Road. According to police, the riders in the car became combatant.

After refusing to comply with officers’ commands, Tracey, the driver, was asked to exit the vehicle. According to police, Tracey initially complied but proceeded to pull away from officers’ grasp and attempted to strike the officers.  

Tracey is being held without bond and has a pending court date of July 22, 2014.
