A teenager has been charged in the March 30 stabbing of a family member, according to Prince William County Police.

The 17-year-old Manassas resident, whose name was not released, is charged with malicious wounding. He is being held at the Juvenile Detention Center.

Detectives from the Violent Crimes Bureau made the arrest on Friday, according to police spokesperson Officer Jonathan Perok.

Just after midnight early March 30, the 46-year-old victim was stabbed multiple times outside his home in the 10200 block of Winchester Court. He was treated at a local hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries.

"Through the investigation, detectives learned that the suspect and the victim were family members involved in a verbal altercation which escalated to the stabbing," Perok said in a statement.
