Police: Stabbing Suspect Mistook Victim for Someone Else

Woman, 19, was sleeping in her room when she was stabbed, according to Prince William County Police.

The suspect in a weekend stabbing near Manassas told police that he mistook the victim for someone else.

Tony Edward Brooks, 52, of the 7600 block of Glenolden Place, is charged with aggravated malicious wounding and burglary. Brooks is being held without bond.

At 12:22 a.m. Saturday, officers responded to the 8300 block of Yorkshire Lane in the Manassas area regarding an assault.

The victim, a 19-year-old woman of Manassas, told police that she and a male acquaintance were sleeping in their room when Brooks, a known male acquaintance, forced open the door and assaulted the victim, according to police spokesperson Officer Jonathan Perok.

"During the encounter, the accused pulled out a knife and cut the victim to her neck and arm," Perok said. "After the altercation, the accused fled the home on foot, but was located and detained without further incident."

The victim was transported to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
