Police: Teens Busted in Failed Marijuana Heist

Officers find pot equipment and approximately 193 marijuana plants in home, according to Prince William County Police.

Four teen suspects planned to rob a man growing weed in his home, according to Prince William County Police.

A 15-year-old girl and three boys, two 17 and one 15, have been charged with conspiracy to commit burglary while armed.

The homeowner they were allegedly targeting, Thomas Walter Irish, 62, of the 6200 block of Occoquan Forest Dr in Manassas, was charged with felony manufacturing and possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

Responding to an anonymous tip, officers located the four teens walking in 6200 block of Occoquan Forest Drive near Manassas, according to police spokesmen Officer Jonathan Perok.

"During the investigation, officers learned that the four juveniles planned to break into a residence located at 6297 Occoquan Forest Dr after they received information that the homeowner was growing marijuana inside the home," according to Perok.

After arriving at the home, detectives observed a strong odor of marijuana. A search warrant yielded approximately 193 marijuana plants, equipment used to grow marijuana, a handgun, and other paraphernalia, Perok said.

A rifle was found in one teen's car and police believe it was going to be used in the burglary, according to Perok.
