City of Manassas Police will not take pictures of a 17-year-old's erect penis after the boy's lawyer went public with the unusual demand, causing a public outcry.

The teen is charged with manufacturing and distributing child pornography after exchanging texts with his 15-year-old girlfriend earlier this year.

Last week, a magistrate reportedly signed off on a new search warrant for more nude pictures of the teen boy's genitalia to compare with evidence.

On Thursday, Police Lt. Brian Larkin told The Associated Press that the department will let the search warrant expire without taking the pictures.

Manassas Police Chief Douglas Keen also issued a statement on the city website noting that the pictures have not been taken.

Earlier this week, the teen's lawyer, Jessica Harbeson Foster, told The Washington Post that investigators had threatened to take the boy to the hospital and use drugs to force the teen to have an erection.
