Purse-Snatching Victim Chases Down Perp

A Woodbridge woman pursued the man who snatched her purse on a Manassas street on Thursday.

A 20-year-old Woodbridge woman decided she wasn't going to let the man who allegedly snatched her purse get away easily, according to Prince William County Police.

The woman told police that she and a relative were walking near Club Run Court and Irongate Way in the Manassas area on Thursday morning when they were approached by a man brandishing a gun.

The man took the victim's purse and ran away but the victim was in hot pursuit, Prince William County Police reports show.

At some point the suspect made contact with the victim again and assaulted her causing minor injuries, according to police.

Police arrived on the scene and used a dog to search for the suspect, but were unsuccessful.

The suspect is thought to be between 18 and 20 years old. He is described as a Hispanic man about 5'7" tall and weighing about 140 pounds. He has a thin build with a black ponytail and brown eyes.

He was last seen wearing a black jacket, blue jeans and gray shirt.

Anyone with information about this crime is asked to call police.
