At 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 9, the victim told police that she had an argument with Carmichael the night before, at her apartment. The woman left the apartment, but Carmichael followed her down Main St., near Prince William St., police said. He threatened her, so she tried to flag down a passing driver to help. Carmichael then pulled her to the ground by her purse strap and stole her keys.

Police took Carmichael to the Prince William County Adult Detention Center, where he was held without bond. His court date is set for Nov. 5.
