Threatening Letters Left at Manassas Homes

Ten letters that threatened violence were left at local homes over the past month, Manassas City Police said.

Threatening letters have been left at the front doors of homes in the Sumner Lake community and in a neighborhood near Byrd Park at least ten times since Dec. 4, Manassas City Police said.

The unknown suspect struck between 7:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. and left similar notes each time, said Sgt. Lowell Nevill, a spokesman for the Manassas City Police Department. The notes each contained the name and address of the same man and threatened violence.

"The man named on the notes lives in the Manassas area of Prince William County and has no connection to the residences where the notes were left," Nevill said in a press release. "In two of the incidents, witnesses observed a suspicious man run from the area."
