Yorkshire Elementary School was placed in "secure-the-building" status shortly before noon Wednesday due to police activity in the area, according to Prince William County Public Schools.

The action is precautionary and staff and students are safe, according to school officials.

According to Prince William County Police Officer Jonathan Perok, police are investigating an attempted burglary reported on Bosbury Ct.

When the Police Department gives the “all clear” for the school, an announcement will be made. Please do not call or go to the school, officials said.
