Video: Sen. Mark Warner Rallies for Colgan in Manassas

U.S. Senator Mark Warner held a rally in support of State Senator Chuck Colgan at Old Town Manassas' City Tavern Monday morning.

The rally was held in the upper level banquet room of The City Tavern at 8:30 a.m. There was standing room only by the time Warner arrived for his speech.

"To get this many people out at 8:30 in the morning says a lot about what people think about Chuck Colgan," said Colgan's daughter, Mary Finnigan.

Those in attendance included Prince William District Attorney Paul Ebert, who is running unapposed in this year's election; Prince William County Chamber of Commerce President Rob Clapper; Mark Olson and Debbie Haight from Historic Manassas, Inc.; and members from the The Prince William Association of REALTORS and the Democratic Committee for Manassas.

Chuck Colgan attended with his wife, Alicia.

Speaker and son of Chuch Colgan, Ray Colgan told the crowd "if we win it is because the voters got to the polls."

Colgan said his dad decided to run for yet another term because he has  "love for the city, love for the Commonwealth, love for the Virginia Senate and love for community service."

Colgan was noted for being instrumental in getting funding for the Georgetown Park Community Center and new third building at the Manassas Campus of Northern Virginia Community College.

During his speech, Sen. Mark Warner noted how well Colgan and Harry Parrish worked together despite being from different political parties. 

He said Colgan puts politics aside for the people of Manassas, Manassas Park and Prince William County.
