Letter: Economic Development is Key

Because I value economic development for Manassas City, my vote will be for Patricia Richie-Folks for City Council on May 1.

Because I value economic development for Manassas City, my vote will be for Patricia Richie-Folks for City Council on May 1st. Manassas needs to move forward with economic development and with raising the quality of our schools. Ms. Richie-Folks understands that the Economic Development Strategic Plan needs re-evaluation in order to improve the plan and make it more realistic for the current situation of the city in these challenging economic times.

As a former small business owner Ms. Richie-Folks understands the work needed to promote Manassas. She will invite people from the entire business community to help construct a plan that will draw new businesses and jobs to Manassas. She has already pointed out our underused assets such as the Manassas Airport and our rich historical legacy.  Tour bus companies should be vigorously contacted to in order to have buses stopping regularly at our museum; which should be a jumping off point for other nearby attractions.

Ms. Richie-Folks knows that the revenue from economic development will help us to strengthen our schools and to support all the core services that city residents need and expect. Considering the difficult times we live in, she will make attracting business “job one”. A new and strong voice is needed on city council and Patricia Richie-Folks will be that voice. Join me in voting for Patricia Richie-Folks on May 1st.
