Letter to the Editor: Support Del. Rich Anderson

Dear Editor:

As a voter in the 51st House District, I’ve been bombarded lately with political mailers.  In particular, Democrat Reed Heddleston has sent many mailers telling me that our Delegate, Rich Anderson, wants to take away women’s birth control.
As an informed voter I was deeply concerned about these mailers, and I decided to call Delegate Anderson directly to ask him about this.
I discovered that not only are these political attacks complete lies, but that Delegate Anderson had sent a letter last year to Secretary of Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius, to increase access to safe forms of birth control.

It seems that Delegate Anderson’s actions are directly opposite of what his opponent Reed Heddleston is incorrectly telling voters. At first I was insulted by his mailings, but then my concerns grew as I realized Heddleston fails to address other topics in his campaign literature.

As a voter, I want to know what he has to say about a variety of issues.  We as women care about many issues – how we will put food on the table, how we will educate our children, how we will ensure our communities are safe, how we will have to budget for the heavier tax burdens that are heaped upon us – and so much more.We need a leader like Rich Anderson who is willing to address these challenges and talk about real issues and real solutions.

So I want to use this space to tell the voters not to believe Reed Heddleston’s lies.  This political mudslinging is what we are used to seeing in Washington, but it’s not the way that we govern in Virginia. Please Reed, stop the lies. I hope everyone will join me in rejecting Reed Heddleston’s lies and support our Delegate, Rich Anderson at the polls on November 5th.

Sincerely,

Cindy Bergman
