Del. L. Scott Lingamfelter (R-31st District) filed paperwork with the State Board of Elections to join the 2013 race for lieutenant governor, the Washington Post reported.
Lingamfelter will face off against Corey Stewart, the chairman of the Prince William County Board of Supervisors , in the GOP primary next year.
Lt. Gov. Bill Bolling (R) is running for governor.
No Democrats have officially announced their candidacies for the position.
