Manassas Named 1 of the Best Places for Job Seekers.

NerdWallet ranked the city of Manassas as the fifth best place for job seekers.

The City of Manassas has been named One of the Best Places in Virginia for Job Seekers by NerdWallet, a consumer advocacy website rated in 2010 by CNN Money as one of the Top 20 Best Money Sites.

“I always say that the City of Manassas is a great place to live, work, play, do business and raise a family,” said Mayor Harry J. Parrish II.  “Now the City is officially being recognized as a great place to work.”

With its low unemployment rate of 5.8 percent, Virginia is a prime location for job seekers. To help residents of the Old Dominion find the best places for employment opportunities, NerdWallet analyzed 109 of the state’s largest cities using the following criteria:

  • Median household income
  • Population growth of those ages 16 and older
  • Unemployment rates

NerdWallet ranked the City of Manassas as the 5th best place for job seekers in Virginia. The City of Manassas has seen its population grow 10.1 percent from 2009 to 2011 while maintaining a low unemployment rate of 6.1 percent. Key employers in Manassas include Lockheed Martin and Prince William Health System, and the City’s residents make a median household income of $73,091.
