Obama Campaign Opens Office in Old Town

Nearly 500 people attended the grand opening of the new President Barack Obama campaign office now located on Old Town's Main Street.

The Obama camp officially opened a campaign office in the City of Manassas this weekend.

According to Obama for America—Virginia Facebook page, supporters and  special guests, including Congressman Gerry Connolly, came out Saturday for the grand opening of the campaign spot at 9411 Main St.

Ex-Democratic National Committee Chairman and Virginia business leader Terry McAuliffe also attended and touted the president's ability to be the only Democrat to carry the state for two years in a row in nearly 50 years and to create jobs, according to a press released provided by the Obama campaign

"President Obama has created jobs, as we now know, for 29 straight months—over 4.5 million new jobs,” McAuliffe said. “Those are the facts that we got to keep talking about when we go door-to-door because there is a clear choice, now that the ticket is complete.”

The release said the nearly 500 people who showed up to the campaign headquarters grand opening said they were there to support the candidate that understands and supports them.

“I’m joining the fight for the candidate that’s fighting for us—and that candidate is President Obama,” said Jon, of Haymarket. “You can see that he stands with middle-class Americans like myself when President Obama’s tax policy asks those who are more well-off to pay their fair share in taxes; you can see it in passage of the Affordable Care Act which is helps millions of middle-class Americans today. Look to the other side, and what you see is a team that will give away tax cuts to millionaires at the expense of those hurting most.”

The opening of the Obama campaign headquarters in Manassas comes just three months shy of the November 2012 presidential election and on the same day Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney and his newly-named vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan made a campaing stop in the city—.
